As a parent, you know that your child\u2019s education goes beyond just reading, writing, and mathematics. In recent years, there has been a growing recognition of the importance of social and emotional skills in the education system in Indonesia. At Sekolah Victory Plus, a well-rounded and holistic education is what we have always stood for. And to achieve this, we highly value children\u2019s social emotional development because of its significant impact on a child.
\nSebagai orangtua, kita tahu bahwa pendidikan anak lebih dari sekadar membaca, menulis, dan menghitung. Dalam beberapa tahun terakhir, keterampilan sosial dan emosional dalam sistem pendidikan mendapat perhatian khusus di Indonesia. Di Sekolah Victory Plus, pendidikan holistik yang menyeluruh adalah hal yang selalu kami utamakan. Dan untuk mencapai hal ini, kami sangat menghargai pentingnya perkembangan sosial emosional dalam tumbuh kembang anak.<\/em><\/p>\n

During social emotional learning experiences, our teachers present the material in a variety of engaging ways through discussions and games so that students are actively involved and have equal opportunities to express their ideas and feelings. Our experienced school counsellors and teachers also work collaboratively to support a comprehensive range of developmental issues, including academics, conflict resolution, transition planning, and peer interactions.
\nDalam pembelajaran sosial emosional di sekolah kami, para guru menyampaikan materi belajar dengan cara yang menarik melalui diskusi dan permainan sehingga siswa terlibat aktif, serta memiliki kesempatan yang sama untuk mengungkapkan ide dan perasaan mereka. Konselor sekolah dengan para guru bekerja sama untuk mendukung perkembangan peserta didik yang meliputi akademik, konflik resolusi, rencana masa transisi, dan pergaulan dengan teman sebaya.<\/em><\/p>\n

We have simple yet impactful morning routines in our classes, where students start their day by praying and have a couple of minutes for breathing exercise. It helps them to feel relaxed and prepares them for a better experience of the learning process. Also, our students frequently have the opportunity to hear from professionals that we specially invite to speak about particular topics during social emotional learning.
\nKami memiliki rutinitas yang sederhana namun bermakna dimana peserta didik memulai hari dengan berdoa dan melakukan latihan pernapasan selama beberapa menit. Latihan ini membantu mereka untuk merasa tenang dan siap untuk mendapatkan pengalaman belajar yang lebih baik. Selain itu, peserta didik kami memiliki kesempatan untuk mendengar langsung dari para narasumber yang secara khusus diundang untuk membahas suatu topik selama pembelajaran sosial emosional.<\/em><\/p>\n

So, is it that crucial? How can social emotional learning complement a child\u2019s learning at school?
\nJadi, sepenting itukah pembelajaran sosial emosional? Bagaimana hal ini dapat melengkapi pembelajaran anak di sekolah?<\/em><\/p>\n

Social emotional learning (SEL) is the process of developing a child\u2019s ability to manage emotions, develop positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. Social emotional learning builds five core competencies; self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.
\nPembelajaran sosial emosional adalah proses dimana anak belajar untuk meningkatkan kemampuan dalam mengelola emosi, mengembangkan relasi positif, dan mengambil keputusan secara bertanggungjawab.<\/em><\/p>\n

First and foremost, students learn to understand themselves better through developing self-awareness. They will be able to recognize their emotions, thoughts, values, and goals.\u00a0 This is particularly important during adolescence, when many students are experiencing significant emotional changes and are developing their sense of identity.
\nYang pertama, peserta didik belajar untuk lebih mengenal diri mereka sendiri melalui self-awareness. Mereka akan mampu mengenali perasaan, pemikiran, nilai dan tujuan mereka. Terlebih bagi mereka yang beranjak remaja, ketika mereka mengalami perubahan emosi yang signifikan dan dalam proses mencari jati diri.<\/em><\/p>\n

By knowing themselves better, it will help them to improve their self-management skills. They are better equipped to manage their emotions effectively so that they can focus on their learning and achieve their goals. And this will of course lead to a better academic performance.
\nA\u00a0study<\/a>\u00a0revealed that SEL has a long term crucial effect on students\u2019 academic outcomes.Dengan lebih mengenal diri sendiri, anak akan meningkatkan kemampuan dalam pengaturan diri. Mereka lebih terlatih untuk mengelola emosi secara efektif sehingga mereka akan lebih fokus pada pembelajaran dan dapat mencapai tujuan mereka. Hal ini tentunya mendukung prestasi yang lebih baik di sekolah. Sebuah\u00a0<\/em>penelitian<\/em><\/a>\u00a0menunjukkan bahwa dalam jangka panjang, SEL memiliki dampak positif untuk prestasi akademik siswa.<\/em><\/p>\n

Finally, social emotional learning promotes responsible decision-making, which is the ability to make ethical and constructive choices. When students are able to make responsible decisions, they are better equipped to navigate complex social and emotional situations.
\nDan yang terakhir, pembelajaran sosial emosional mendorong pengambilan keputusan yang bertanggung jawab, yaitu kemampuan untuk membuat pilihan yang etis dan konstruktif. Ketika dapat mengambil keputusan yang bertanggung jawab, mereka akan siap dengan berbagai situasi sosial yang dihadapi.<\/em><\/p>\n
