Music and Community: Harvard Din & Tonics at Sekolah Victory Plus

Beautiful harmonies, laughter, and applause filled the air as Sekolah Victory Plus, an IB World School in Indonesia, had the honour of welcoming the Harvard Din & Tonics, Harvard University’s internationally acclaimed a cappella group, for a truly memorable afternoon. Bringing together students, parents, alumni, and members of the SVP community, the event was more than a musical performance. It became a joyful celebration of culture, connection, and the universal language of music.

A Meaningful Cultural Exchange

The celebration became even more meaningful as our own students proudly showcased their talents through vibrant traditional and hip-hop dance performances. These performances reflected Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage while highlighting the creativity, confidence, and spirit of our students.

As both groups shared the stage, the event transformed into a genuine cultural exchange between Harvard Din & Tonics and the Sekolah Victory Plus community. It was an inspiring example of how the performing arts can foster understanding, appreciation, and meaningful connections across cultures.

I’ve met a couple of the students walking through the hallways and their generosity and kindness has been so welcoming. We have such a huge space to sing with around 500 people. I can’t wait to be sharing our music with them and learning more about the great education that happens here at the IB World School.” said Chris, the Rising Junior of Harvard Din & Tonics.

Inspiring Students Beyond the Classroom

Beyond the memorable performances, the visit also left a lasting message for our students. The members of the Harvard Din & Tonics demonstrated that pursuing academic excellence does not mean setting aside personal passions. Alongside their studies at one of the world’s most prestigious universities, they continue to dedicate themselves to a cappella, showing that creativity, collaboration, and commitment can thrive alongside academic success.

For our students, the visit by the Harvard Din & Tonics served as an inspiring reminder that learning extends beyond the classroom. Whether through music, sports, the arts, or other interests, pursuing a passion can build confidence, strengthen friendships, and create meaningful experiences that shape future success.
